Filming a wedding at Gaynes park during the 2022 summer heatwave

One of the hottest weeks on record, time to film a blisteringly hot wedding video at Gaynes Park, Essex. For the first time ever I wore shorts whilst filming this wedding. I requested approval from the bride and groom beforehand however as someone who prides themselves on turning up for weddings smartly, and even with smart shorts and a shirt on, it felt a little different. It undoubtedly helped me keep filming all day through the heat. It was the correct decision to get the best wedding video possible.

Wedding venue setup and videographer arrival

If you haven’t got time to read through and just want to see the Gaynes Park Wedding Video I made from the day you can watch the feature film of the wedding here.

Gaynes Park in Essex is set on a large piece of land in the countryside. I’ve often cycled past it on my trips out of London yet the long drive meant I’d never seen the wedding venue itself. Straight away it’s clear where to go. A layout that stops guests wandering around aimlessly looking for someone or a sign to point them in the right direction. There is plenty of car parking on site for all your guests. Lots of outdoor covered seating should they need somewhere to gather together before the ceremony begins. The ceremony took place in the Orangery. This is in essence a large wooden beamed conservatory. Thankfully it is fitted with three air conditioning systems that kept the room cool even with almost eighty people.

Gaynes Park is run by a team that know exactly how to cope with any type of wedding. Reassuring for you as a couple but also for us as suppliers. Public liability is required to the value of £5 million. You will only ever have legitimate wedding businesses working there as suppliers. The staff are helpful and will show guests where they need to be, make announcements and display all round levels of great client service, helping you have the best day.

The wedding ceremony

Watch the full wedding ceremony on YouTube here.

The wedding ceremony provides the option of the grandest of aisles possible. You can walk in down the aisle all the way from the beautiful iron gates with all eyes on you until you reach your other half. Or you can shorten it by using the side of the Orangery to enter the aisle. This makes it around a 10-step aisle, perfect for getting all eyes off you quickly. This was a quick civil ceremony carried out in around 18 minutes. I only know near exact timings because of the clocks on the cameras.

Gaynes Park wedding breakfast

Watch the full wedding speeches on YouTube here.

The wedding breakfast is held in the barn area. This means there’s no time lost on the wedding day due to room changes. Your guests can simply move into the room after the drinks reception is complete. Speeches are a breeze, the in-house microphone is high quality. This will help enhance your wedding video as well as the delivery of all your speakers giving toasts. The barn is a good size to fit large numbers comfortably.

Final Gaynes Park wedding video thoughts

Gaynes Park lends itself to creating great wedding videos. The venue layout helps us videographers manage our gear and optimises timings on the day to spend it in the vicinity of the wedding party to capture all the best bits planned and spontaneous. Despite the heat, the day ran perfectly to plan, everyone had a great time and I’m really happy with how their feature wedding video turned out.
